With so many automakers sitting on the sidelines of the advertising game for Super Bowl XLIX, it’s nice to see BMW taking to the field again. And when you have news as big as they do, why not share it with tens of millions of people all at once?

Bavarian Motor Works (did ya know that’s what BMW stands for? You did? OK well… so did we) is selling their first ever all-electric car, the BMW i3. They plan for the relatively affordable i3 to compete directly with established electric car brands, specifically offerings from Tesla Motors, a company which sells superlative but pricey vehicles (for now – they have plans for lower priced cars too).

We don’t have a lead on the actual BMW i3 Super Bowl commercial yet, but we can make a safe assumption they’ll be using humor in their Big Game ads based on their past i3 spots, like this one:
