Double the gas mileage of a standard car? Double the length of a standard Super Bowl commercial? Rob Riggle played by James Franco? Sure, why not. That’s what just happened, anyway. We have just seen the last of the Super Bowl pregame spots, and it was indeed the ad Franco and a tiger had teased a few days ago.

But was that commercial truly a success? Was it worth the buildup? Sure, the shtick was OK: they ran an ad and then immediately ran a remake of it that was “double” the spot before it, replacing Riggle with Franco, adding special effects and all and…

…oops, we just bought a Ford Fusion. OK, the ad worked. Well played.
