We haven’t been able to learn much about Ford’s upcoming Super Bowl commercial set to star actor James Franco, but we do know at least one intriguing thing about the ad: it’s not technically a Super Bowl commercial at all! Technically…

Ford has bought airtime to run its game day commercial after the coin toss that will decide whether the Seattle Seahawks or Denver Broncos are the first to receive or kickoff the ball, but the spot will run before the actual kickoff takes place. That means it’s not, in the literal sense, a Super Bowl commercial! And rumor has it that the Ford Motor Company secured the airtime for a mere $3.5 million, shaving five hundred grand off the price of thirty seconds of actual Super Bowl airtime!

We suppose we’re still excited to see what Ford and the unpredictable James Franco have come up with, though. Judging by this production still, it likely involves flowers and flight… and maybe an F-150 pickup truck?
